Documents By Me

This is an archive of the documents I have created or helped create in Engl 3367 for the IRB usability website project.

Facilitator Checklist

I created the facilitator checklist in order to guide the facilitator during testing and to standardized the facilitator’s role in our usability test. The facilitator’s role is the most essential role during testing. The facilitator must greet the user and make him feel welcomed and at ease, so the user will not become anxious and awkward during the test. Also, the facilitator is the only testing individual in the observation room during testing. This means he must direct the user to fill out the appropriate forms and instruct him how to perform the test, such as reminding the user to think out loud.

This form was also required to standardize the facilitator’s role. Due to our sporadic scheduling availabilities, we knew we would not be able to use the same facilitator often. In order to make sure the users were getting the same instructions from the facilitators, this checklist was created to standardize the process.

The same version was used for every test. Here is the document: facilitator checklist

Facilitator Script

I also created a facilitator script to accompany the facilitator checklist. The checklist prompts the facilitator to read this form at the beginning to make a formal greeting and introduction about the test to the user. Here is the document: facilitator script

Method test design

The testing group was charged with creating the raw form of the testing questions to be used by the users during the test. I helped the testing group create a method test design. While creating this document we paid special attention to cover the testing objectives and the important parts of the website. Here is the document: method test design

Faculty Test (Original Version)

faculty testing instructions

This is the original version of the faculty test. I helped create this document, keeping the task goals in mind that the testing group had later developed. It was used during the pilot test. Many faults were found within it, leading to its recreation that became the faculty test. This test was too narrow minded about solely navigating the website with the goal of finding a certain page. Instead we needed questions that would target the ability of the user to understand the pages and use them.

I also collaborated in the creation of the faculty test. The test was recreated with the intent of correcting the faults of the earlier version by asking questions that assess how well the website can be understood and used rather than simply used as an archive for obscure forms.

Final Project Appendices

I was also assigned the task of completing Appendices E-G on the pbwiki website where the final project is stored.

Appendix E contains many of the forms used during the tests. Zachary Conely was also responsible for adding documents relating to the sponsor/participant management group.

Appendix F contains the sessions logs recorded during the tests by the testing group.

Appendix G contains references for the resources used while undergoing the entire project.
